About the UFCW Guild Unit
The Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild is one of three unions representing employees at the Washington, D.C. headquarters of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union. The UFCW represents 1.3 million workers in the retail food, meatpacking, poultry, and other food processing industries, as well as in healthcare, insurance, garment manufacturing and other industries.
The UFCW unit is represented by the Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild, Local 32035 of the Communications Workers of America. The unit includes approximately 80 professional and support staff from a variety of Growth, Growth Support, and Administrative departments. The current contract also covers a small number of staff at the UFCW's Harmerville, PA office.
The Guild negotiates the contract between unit staff and the UFCW and, between negotiations, enforces the contract. The UFCW unit is represented by WBNG Executive Director Cet Parks (202-785-3650, x12 or cparks@wbng.org).
Unit members are encouraged to contact a unit officer or steward regarding any grievances or disciplinary actions. The Guild can also provide information about benefits and discounts available to Guild members. The current officers of the unit:
