About Your Contract
Among your rights and benefits:
Job
Security: There is no lay off during
the term of the agreement. Discipline and
discharge are for just and sufficient cause
only. Right to representation by a union
steward at any investigatory interview. Health
Care: 100% employer paid health care,
with minor co-payments on some services,
and on prescription drugs. Wages:
Negotiated general increases in addition
to annual "step increases" during the first
several years in a grade, and longevity
steps at 7, 14, and 21 years. Job
bidding: Jobs must be posted, current
employees have first opportunity to bid,
and when qualifications and experience are
relatively equal, senior bidder is awarded
position.
Dispute
Resolution: Grievance process ending
in third party binding arbitration on
the AFL-CIO and the Guild. Comp
Time: Eight days compensatory leave
each year, with cash out of up to four.
Alternative
Work Schedules:
Options for alternative work schedules
depending on operational needs.
Vacation:
Credit for prior labor related employment
of five or more years. Paid vacation based
on years of service, beginning with one
day per month during first calendar year.
Holidays:
Fourteen paid holidays. Pension:
Fully paid pension program with no employee
payroll deductions. 401(k) with AFL-CIO
matching employee contribution up to ½ of
one percent of the employee's salary. Sick
Leave: Unlimited sick leave for employee
illness or injury. Six "family medical"
leave days per year for serious illness
of dependents, including parent, spouse,
domestic partner, and for use for unscheduled
school closings, and parent-teacher conferences.
Education:
Reimbursement up to $1,500 per year for
approved course of study related to work
performed by the employee. Expenses:
Field staff car allowance of $650/month.

Overview of the AFL-CIO Guild Unit Structure
The following is an overview of the AFL-CIO
Guild Unit structure adopted by the membership
at the Annual Meeting: 1)
ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING: There will
be a yearly Annual Meeting of the AFL-CIO
Guild Unit held concurrently with the Field
Mobilization Retreat. This will be the official
meeting of the AFL-CIO Guild Unit and is empowered
to change the Unit structure and enact any
and all policies. 2)
SUBUNIT MEETINGS: Subunits of the Guild
Unit would meet regularly between the Annual
Meeting. At a minimum the following would
be constituted as AFL-CIO Guild subunits:
Headquarters, Midwest Region, Northeast Region,
Southern Region, Western Region, At-Large
Field and Organizing Field. Other subunits
can be designated as required. Subunits are
empowered to elect representatives, plan and
implement subunit activities and make policy
recommendations to the Executive Committee.

THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE: An Executive
Committee comprised of the officers, 5 stewards
from the Field, 5 stewards from Headquarters
and 1 steward from Organizing Field would
meet 4 times per year. The Executive Committee
would decide business for the AFL-CIO Guild
Unit between Annual Meetings and act on issues
submitted to it from the Subunits. Field and
Headquarters Staff will be paid travel costs
to attend meetings of the Executive Committee.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS AND EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
MEMBERS: Elections of officers, shop stewards
and executive committee members will be held
each January in compliance with the by-laws
of TNG/CWA Local 35.
