| The AFL-CIO is not a union that bargains contracts
for employees, but rather a federation of
more than 50 affiliated unions.
Together,
these unions represent more than 10 million
working men and woman in the United States.
The
federation has several distinct sections
and sponsors many programs, all aimed at
advancing social and economic justice for
U.S. workers by enabling them to have a
say on the job, as well as in their own
government and communities.
Currently,
more than 125 AFL-CIO headquarters and field
staff are protected by a contract that is
bargained and enforced by the Washington-Baltimore
Newspaper Guild.

Your Contract
The collective bargaining agreement, which is
a binding contract between the Guild and the
AFL-CIO, reflects the collective voice of
our bargaining unit over nearly 50 years of
Guild representation. Wages, hours, and working
conditions must all be negotiated with the
Guild. The protection and benefits afforded
by the union contract were hard won by many
workers before us, and through the solidarity
of our members we continue to strive for improved
working conditions and economic benefits at
each round of negotiations.
