The JCC spent over a year reviewing the advantages and disadvantages of the current compensation system, reviewing other compensation models, and addressing the elements of performance evaluation systems that play a role in "pay for performance" systems. Actual compensation and many of the elements of a compensation system (including merit pay, job standards, and performance evaluations) are mandatory subjects of bargaining, and both the Guild and BNA acknowledged that recommendations must be fully bargained during negotiations for a new contract. Negotiations open in November 2002 for the current contract which expires on February 28, 2003. The full report is available on the Guild website at www.wbng.org/bna/bnaintro.html, and will also be available at the next Guild membership meeting, scheduled for May 21. The membership meeting will be devoted to a discussion of the report and initial reactions and thoughts of the bargaining unit. The meeting will be open to all Guild-covered employees.
