| determines the salary and benefits, and when to raise—or lower—them. In nonunion companies employees can be fired for any reason the boss can dream up and without any right of appeal. Under the union contract at BNA the company must prove just cause for any discipline, and because of the contract you have access to binding arbitration to appeal any contract dispute. We’ll go to the bargaining table on Nov. 12 with the goal of continuing our 50-year history of wage and benefit improvements, contract after contract. In the last round alone we gained paid parental leave, increased Metrocheck and parking subsidy, improved tuition reimbursement, emergency child care in Rockville, an increase in the number of sick leave days that can be used for care of parents, improved sick bank provisions, and the ability of employees to phase into retirement. We made these gains because the employees supported their union, and showed it! What goes on at the table affects all Guild-covered employees! Show the company that your union IS your voice at the bargaining table. Join us on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 12:30 p.m. for a Contract Kickoff Rally in front of the 25th street courtyard! |
