Guild Employees!

Guild memers at Nov. 1, 2002, membership meeting.
Guild members (above) listen as Local 32035 Administrative Officer Lori Calderone (right) explains Guild contract proposals at Nov. 1, 2002 membership meeting.

On Nov. 12, the Guild and BNA will begin negotiations for a new contract!

Under law, BNA must negotiate with the Guild on all issues affecting your work life -- not just wages and working conditions. The contract covers virtually everything that relates to you from the moment you walk through the company door until you leave at the end of the day—and beyond!! Health care that affects your family, and retirement that affects your future are also on the bargaining table.

This powerful voice Guild members have stands in contrast to nonunion workplaces, where the employer alone

determines the salary and benefits, and when to raise—or lower—them. In nonunion companies employees can be fired for any reason the boss can dream up and without any right of appeal. Under the union contract at BNA the company must prove just cause for any discipline, and because of the contract you have access to binding arbitration to appeal any contract dispute.

We’ll go to the bargaining table on Nov. 12 with the goal of continuing our 50-year history of wage and benefit improvements, contract after contract. In the last round alone we gained paid parental leave, increased Metrocheck and parking subsidy, improved tuition reimbursement, emergency child care in Rockville, an increase in the number of sick leave days that can be used for care of parents, improved sick bank provisions, and the ability of employees to phase into retirement. We made these gains because the employees supported their union, and showed it!

What goes on at the table affects all Guild-covered employees! Show the company that your union IS your voice at the bargaining table.

Join us on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 12:30 p.m. for a Contract Kickoff Rally in front of the 25th street courtyard!
