BNA - Guild NewsSept. 30, 2003 Rockville Employees Had to Flag Down Ambulance Rockville’s Guild Vice Chair Marline Casselle says the safety of BNA employees at the Key West office is jeopardized because emergency vehicles can’t find the office. After 9/11 BNA took down the large Bureau of National Affairs sign to deter terrorist attacks. Unfortunately, the only sign identifying the office is a hard-to-see address at the top of the building. Because of that people – including fire and rescue – have trouble finding the building. In fact, on September 24th when an employee was overcome by diesel fumes, employees had to go outside to flag down the ambulance. The driver had driven past the office without knowing it. Casselle sent an email to BNA managers calling the failure to put up a sign identifying the building “appalling.” “I can only hope that this is a wake up call for those responsible for our safety,” she said. Casselle reports that employees have been pressing BNA to put up some sort of sign for months. She says it’s gotten so bad one employee has volunteered to put up his own sign for BNA.* *On September
29th, after Casselle emailed BNA, a temporary sign was put up. --
