Nomination of Officers and Delegates to Take Place at November Membership Meeting

Election Slated for January
Guild bylaws provide for the nomination of officers at the November membership meeting (with elections in January).

Nominations will be taken for local president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and five at-large delegates to the WBNG Executive Council.

The bylaws also allow nomination by petition, requiring 25 signatures of members in good standing. Or you could just show up at the Meany Center and nominating your candidate!

Officers' duties

President: presides at general membership and Executive Council meetings, serves as an ex officio and nonvoting member of all standing and special committees, and signs all membership cards and all local contracts approved by the Executive Council.

Vice-President: performs the president's duties in case of the president's absence or disability.

Secretary: keeps all records of the local except financial records, conducts correspondence as directed by the Executive Council and the local, and keeps accurate minutes of all Executive Council and general membership meetings.

Treasurer: custodian of local funds and "causes to be kept" in an orderly fashion all fiscal records of the local, "causes to be made" all financial reports required by TNG-CWA, and gives clear and detailed reports on the local's financial condition at each regular Executive Council meeting and general membership meeting.

At Large Members of the Executive Council: Along with the four officers and delegates from the larger units, At-Large members of the council supervise the handling of all local funds except for payments of a strictly routine nature; designate at least one officer to sign checks in addition to the treasurer; generally supervise all local officers; report to the membership at least quarterly the financial condition of the local; make recommendations to the membership on matters affecting the local or any of its units; fix the pay of, employ and dismiss the local's paid staff; supervise the administrative officer's activities; appoint delegates to organizations with which the local is affiliated; call special general membership meetings when necessary; and fulfill any other functions assigned to it by the WBNG bylaws or the TNG-CWA constitution.
