Safeway Wants to Kill Affordable Health Care!
DON'T Shop Safeway!

Safeway and its CEO Steve Burd have forced tens of thousands of Southern California working families into the streets in a fight to save affordable health care at work.

This fight is NOT about $5 to $15 premium co-pays!

Safeway wants to effectively eliminate affordable health care benefits for its workers. NEW workers wouldn’t have any real benefits at all. Current workers would face $95 a week premium co-pays or mass cuts in benefits.

Safeway profits are up 82% to $3.1 billion over the past five years.

Don’t shop Safeway—you DO have choices:

  • Giant Foods
  • Metro (in Baltimore)
  • Eddies (in Baltimore)
  • Foodtown
  • Shoppers Food Warehouse
  • Super Fresh
  • Magruders

If we let giant, profitable corporations get away with this, then every worker is at risk of losing health benefits.

WBNG members picket Jan. 25, 2004 in Baltimore in support of striking Safeway workers.

PLEASE: circulate this news to everyone you know!

WBNG is no stranger to this brand of corporate bargaining. It can happen here.

Let's draw the line and show real labor solidarity!
