Contract Unit Leaders Related Sites

The Department for Professional Employees is one of seven constitutionally chartered trade and industrial departments of the American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO).

The department conducts activities that support union organizing of professional, technical and administrative workers by DPE's affiliated unions.

Such activities include sponsoring issue-oriented conferences, organizing national educational programs and workshops for unions interested in particular white-collar professions, surveying white-collar employees about issues that most concern them, and conducting various types of research relating to highly skilled white-collar workers.

The Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild contract protects the pay, benefits and working conditions of four professional and clerical employees in this unit.
