FAST
is one of seven constitutionally chartered
trade and industrial departments of the American
Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial
Organizations.
FAST provides research support for bargaining
and organizing campaigns to union affiliates
that support FAST through membership dues.
Some of FAST's affiliated unions include the
United Food
and Commercial Workers, Hotel and Restaurant
Employees International Union, International
Union of Operating Engineers, and the Association
of Flight Attendants.
Approximately
6 research and clerical employees at FAST
are protected by a contract that is bargained
and enforced by the Washington-Baltimore Newspaper
