Nominations for Local 32035 Executive Council

The following Guild members were nominated at the November 18 General Membership meeting to serve as officers of the Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild for the year 2001 (each candidate's Guild unit follows his or her name):

For President:
Dawn M. Rodriguez-Lamar, American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations

For Vice President:
Maggie Cohen, Bureau of National Affairs
Bill Salganik, The Baltimore Sun

For Secretary:
J. Darlene Meyer, The Washington Post

For Treasurer:
NEW! Robert Demby, Washington Post (nominated by petition after Nov. General Membership Meeting)

According to the bylaws of the Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild, Article V(A), Section 2:

" ...Nominations may also be received by petition of a minimum of twenty-five (25) members in good standing who shall file their petition with the Secretary no later than fifteen (15) days after the floor nominations have been officially reported in the Guild Forum."

This notice opens the petition period which ends December 13, 2000.

The bylaws further state:

"In the event that, following the petition period, there is no contest for any office, the local Elections and Referendum Committee, hereinafter established, shall declare the nominee or nominees for that office elected."

Subsequently, the Local Executive Council shall set the dates for the election period if necessary.
