Radio Free Asia Guild Unit -- NewsOct. 26, 2004 BARGAINING BULLETIN #28 Guild, RFA Management Reach Agreeement On Health & Life Insurances After 40 bargaining sessions – it’s time to talk about wages. The Guild and RFA management completed the 40th bargaining session Monday with tentative agreements on health insurance, life insurance, and business/travel expenses. RFA management on next Monday will present its first compensation proposals. In bargaining October 25th, the two sides agreed to continue the current health insurance program, with RFA paying 75 percent of the monthly premium. We had proposed shifting more of the costs to management, but the negotiating team decided it was better to put our efforts into the number one priority of our members – wages and other direct compensation, such as retirement. We told management exactly that at the table. In life insurance, employees will be covered by a policy paying two times their salary, up to $200,000. We are putting in writing a supplemental $100,000 life insurance policy for employees sent to hazardous areas. There
will be no changes in the way business expenses are paid. The public
transportation stipend also will continue as is. |
