I felt like screaming…

…So I did, with this handy promotional freebie that arrived in the office one day. When deadline pressure became just too much, when an editor and a graphic designer stood near the copy desk to have a loud disagreement about artistic choices, or when a writer came over to let us know we had changed one word and made the entire story wrong, the residual tension hanging in the silence felt like a thousand knives stabbing our skin. That’s when I would open my top desk drawer and reach for the Six Flags Fright Fest automated scream. Press the button, and I’d get four seconds of loud, screamy relief to share with everyone sitting nearby. Sadly, I dropped it when taking this picture, so it screams no more. — Norine Schiller
