About two dozen BNA correspondents are based outside of the Washington area. They report on state regulations and legislation affecting labor, medical, insurance, and environmental issues. They are represented by the Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild, which represents them on all issues of wages, benefits, and working conditions.
