CWA Membership Cards' Mailing Delayed

Communications Workers of America three-year membership cards have not yet been received by the WBNG office.

The new cards, which will be good through 2011, are being held up at the printer, but will be distributed as soon as they arrive.

Newspaper Guild members voted to merge with the much larger CWA in 1995, with the merger taking effect in 1997. WBNG (Local 35 of TNG) became CWA Newspaper Guild Sector Local 32035.

CWA, which began as a telephone-operators union, boasts more than 700,000 members; the Guild sector has more than 30,000.
