The Best Strike You Ever Had The intrepid Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild bowling team, which this year was called the Anonymous Horses, played its role once again by rolling in the annual “Bowling for Gold” tournament sponsored by the Community Services Agency of the Metropolitan Washington AFL-CIO (a WBNG shop). The Horses were paired with a team from National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 142, working out of the Ward Place post office in Northwest Washington. Former local president Mark Pattison topped the team with a 188 high game and a 497 series. He also peeled off four strikes in a row; participants who achieved three in a row won a prize, and Mark chose a nice dress shirt that subtly honored the D.C. Building Trades’ centennial celebration. Other bowlers on the Anonymous Horses were Steve Cook (BNA), Amy Lampkin and Mike Noonan (AFL-CIO), and Mike’s wife, Debbie. Bowlers collected straight or per-pin pledges from friends and colleagues to help replenish the emergency-services fund’s treasury. Our congratulations to all bowlers!
