Pursuant to a voluntary settlement agreement between Communications Workers of America Local 32035 and the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Labor-Management Standards (OLMS), OLMS is supervising new nominations (for the position of secretary only) and a new election for the offices of Local 32035 president, vice president, and secretary. The positions of president, vice president, and secretary will be elected in accordance with the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act of 1959 (LMRDA) and the CWA Constitution and the Local 32035 By-laws, insofar as lawful and practicable. The elected candidates will fulfill the remainder of the regular term of office, which ends in January 2019.
As provided by the CWA Constitution and Local 32035 By-laws, to be eligible to nominate or hold office,
a member must be in good standing in Local 32035 on August 31, 2017. It is up to the individual member to ensure that he or she is in good standing. If a member wants to verify his or her good standing, the member can contact OLMS Election Supervisor Mark Coldren.
For this election only, nominations for secretary must be submitted in writing to OLMS Election
Supervisor Mark Coldren at email@example.com. No seconds are required. The nomination period will open August 24, 2017 and nominations must be submitted no later than August 31, 2017. Nominations are not being accepted for president or vice president. The candidates from the last election are the candidates for those offices in the supervised election.
Members may nominate no more than ONE candidate for secretary. The nomination must include the
nominee’s name and the nominator’s name. Please include Nomination in the subject line.
Candidates will be notified of their nomination on September 1, 2017 and must accept their nomination in writing to the election supervisor at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The election will be a combination polling site and mail ballot election on October 11, 2017 and October
12, 2017. Additional information regarding the election will be provided in a separate notice which will be mailed to all Local 32035 members at a later date.
